87 Performance Analyzer — Godot 4 Editor Plugin
A downloadable tool
Find Godot 4 performance issues before your players do — one click, three analysis modules, zero setup
Performance Analyzer is an editor plugin that scans your project and tells you what is slow and how to fix it. It checks texture sizes, expensive code inside `_process()` and scene weight (meshes & lights), then shows everything in a dock with severity colors, exact file locations and a concrete suggestion for every finding. Copy the whole report as Markdown and paste it in your issue tracker.
What it analyzes
- Textures — any PNG / JPG / SVG / WebP / EXR bigger than 2048×2048 is flagged with its dimensions and a "reduce to 1024×1024" suggestion (VRAM)
- Scripts— `_process()` bodies are scanned for `Input.is_*_pressed()` polling, `.instantiate()` per frame and `get_node()` / `$Node` lookups that should be cached in `_ready()`
- Scenes — the open scene is counted: more than 100 `MeshInstance3D` or more than 4 lights triggers MultiMesh / merge and Baked Lightmaps suggestions
What's included?
- Editor dock with Run Analysis and Copy Report (report → clipboard as Markdown)
- Three tabs — Textures / Scripts / Scene — color-coded ERROR / WARNING / INFO with per-finding suggestions
- Menu entry: Project > Tools > Run Performance Analysis
- Runnable demo project with known issues, so you can see every rule fire
- Headless test suite (smoke test + dock test) — CI-friendly
- Full GDScript source, no dependencies
Requirements: Godot 4.4+ (tested on 4.7.2) · Forward+ or GL Compatibility · pure GDScript, no plugins, no external tools.
License: MIT — use it in commercial projects, no attribution required.
